And you get some freebies

The dryer stopped spinning Monday evening. A quick disassemble and troubleshoot revealed that the drum belt had broken. Since the dirty laundry wasn't stacked up too much it wasn't a dire emergency. So, I decided to forgo the 1 hour trip to my nearest appliance parts place and order one on-line, instead. It arrived today, was quickly installed, and the dryer is back in order.

I was pleased with the on-line parts place, Repair Clinic. The price was reasonable and delivery was fast.

Plus, I got two freebies - refrigerator magnets with their web address displayed.

Left, right... arrgghhh I can't remember, dagnabit!

I consider myself a decent handyman and do-it-yourselfer. There's not much I won't take on around the house. Today's do-it-myself task involved replacing a leaky shower head. A simple enough task consisting of unscrewing the old one from the 1/2" pipe end, cleaning any old residue from threads and snugging on the new shower head.

But then I remembered I would need to wrap Teflon tape on the pipe thread before screwing on the shower head. I had a roll of Teflon tape so no problem there. But then it was that age old quandary. Which way do I wrap the tape? Thank goodness for the Internet as a quick search gave me the answer.

Their numbers are dwindling

Veterans of World War II. Fewer and fewer of them left.

Anyway, footnote.com has teamed up with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to compile World War II information into a more accessible form. One of the neat things is that they've created an online collection of many
never before seen photos from World War II.

You need to register to use their viewer but it's free.
